Abiding in Love

Hello guys and Happy February!

We all know this month to be a time of L-O-V-E. The stores are stocked with bears, cards, and red balloons that are created to tug on your heart strings. Oftentimes, it is easy to become inundated with the world’s view and we forget that God is Love. His love for us is the greatest testament known to mankind. We must learn that his love reaches beyond a single day listed on the yearly calendar. His love begins at conception; when we are being formed in our mother’s womb and extends until we take our last breath on earth.  Ephesians 3:17-19 (NIV) explains this beautifully:

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

God’s love contains four dimensions. His LOVE is long, deep, wide and high. It can often be difficult for our human brains to comprehend his love for us, because the magnitude of God’s love supersedes all of our shortcomings, addictions, brokenness, and past sins. His love for us is the perfect reflection of redemption and restoration.  I never truly grasped the vastness of his love until I began a personal journey to become healed and whole. Once I took a moment to see everything that God had done on my behalf, it truly left me speechless. I think it is safe for me to say that we have all gone through phases in our lives where we have looked for love in the wrong places. Before I fully committed my life to Christ, I was on a dark road looking for someone to shine a light into my heart. It was not until I laid everything down at the foot of the cross that a true revelation of God’s love was illuminated in my life.

Abiding in God’s Love allows us to be cleansed from the inside. He purges everything in us that is not like him. He removes the remnants of guilt, shame, and defeat. Then, he gently reminds us that he can cleanse us from any of our past mistakes. His love uncovers the deep, inner needs of our hearts. When we start to see ourselves through the eyes of the Father, deliverance begins to take place.

We must aim to never take his love for granted. He loves us even when we neglect to express our love and gratitude to him. We must seek to grasp the fullness of his LOVE.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you. (Psalm 33:22 NLT) God’s love is unfailing!! Meaning he is reliable, dependable, constant, and steadfast. We all have experienced being disappointed by someone that we love here on earth. But God’s love does not fail us even when we slip and fall. His love is true and 100% authentic. I wanted to take this time to encourage you to rest in the love of God in this season of your life. I am not familiar with your situation but I do know that there is NOTHING too hard for God. Surrender everything over to him and cast all of your cares upon him because he truly cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Keep pursuing him with your whole heart and watch him do something great in your life.
